You can edit text in various ways.

You can even embed media: (this means you can use other sites such as youtube, or photosites like flickr to embed slide shows or videos from their sites.)
Do you notice the comment tab at the bottom of the page.
If one choses they can add the ability to comment.
Depending on the blogsite you chose, there are different options for allowing people to view/read and comment on your blog.
In an English classroom students can post work and have peers comment and review it.
In Social Studies students could respond to weekly questions by the teacher.
In Science students could discuss different solutions to a problem.
